Communicating with friends and family when a loved one is ill can be stressful and time-consuming. To help ease that burden, the employees of Northwest Hospital & Medical Center have donated funds through the Northwest Hospital Foundation to bring CarePages to our patients and their families.

CarePages are free, personalized web pages you can create to keep friends and relatives informed, allow everyone to communicate with each other, post updates, share photos, send supportive messages and more.

Anyone can create a CarePage using easy, step-by-step instructions. No special computer skills are required. For technical help, contact CarePages directly by phone at (888) 852-5521 or by e-mail through the CarePages website.

To protect patient privacy, CarePages requires that the CarePage creator either be the patient or receive permission from the patient, parent or guardian to share the patient’s information. The CarePage creator chooses a unique name for the CarePage and then invites friends and family to visit the page. Visitors must know the exact name of the page to gain access to it.

It’s easy to create a CarePage while you’re at Northwest Hospital by using NWH GuestNet, the hospital’s free wireless Internet access for laptop computers. Wireless access is currently available throughout the hospital campus, including:

• The main hospital building, including patient rooms, lobbies and waiting areas
• The Emergency Department
• The Childbirth Center
• The Operating Room waiting areas
• Day Surgery rooms and waiting areas
• Cafeteria
• "D Wing" (Administration)
• "E Wing" (Rehabilitation, Geropsychiatry)
• North Seattle Surgery Center (Northwest Outpatient Medical Center)
